Preparing for your Au Pair

First time host families in our program will receive a Welcome Pack upon confirmation of their first placement which includes the Host Family Handbook. The Handbook will review important aspects of your Au Pair's orientation that you will need to reinforce, explore cultural adaptation issues, and provide tips for living with a young adult and how to prepare for her arrival. It will also offer important suggestions on matters you will need to consider and discuss with your Au Pair.

We recommend to get to know your Au Pair better before her arrival by e-mail contact.

Transportation from Orientation

You will book your Au Pair a one-way plane, train or coach ticket from Sydney to your home town. Picking up the Au Pair from their accommodation in Sydney CBD or the local airport/station is recommended if feasible. The cost of travel to the Host Family lies with the Host Family.

Ongoing Support When You Need It

Personal growth opportunities and childcare pointers don't stop here. Throughout the program Au Pairs meet with fellow Au Pairs in their area, share ideas in their online forum and are encouraged toward other personal and childcare improvement. The Au Pair Program Coordinator will remain in constant contact with the Au Pairs throughout their placement and will assist you and the Au Pair with any questions or concerns.

For many families hosting an Au Pair will be a new experience. AIFS makes this experience easy by having your own dedicated AIFS consultant ready to answer your questions and provide valuable advice.

Contact your Program Coordinator if you require further information.
